Bio-Process Systems Alliance (BPSA) Appoints Three New Members to Its Scientific Advisory Council

Sept. 17, 2026 (ARLINGTON, VA)– The Bio-Process Systems Alliance (BPSA) recently announced the appointment of three industry leaders to its Scientific Advisory Council (SAC) at the 2026 BPSA International Single-Use Summit, held in July in Boston, MA. The new SAC members are Nelly Montenay of Sartorius, Heidi Sinkovich of Meissner, and Aidan Sexton, PhD, of Johnson & Johnson.
Formed in 2021, the BPSA SAC provides technical direction for the Alliance and supports the development of scientifically grounded resources that advance the adoption and use of single-use technologies. Chaired by BPSA Second Vice Chair, Kirsten Strahlendorf of Sanofi, the SAC oversees BPSA’s technical portfolio, including white papers and other technical projects, and helps guide responses to technical questions from across the bioprocessing community. “We are pleased to welcome Nelly, Heidi, and Aidan to the Scientific Advisory Council,” said Mark Petrich, PhD, of Krystal Biotech & BPSA Chair. “Each brings deep technical expertise and a strong track record of leadership in single-use bioprocessing innovation and manufacturing excellence. New Scientific Advisory Council Members
Nelly Montenay is Head of PD Science & Testing at Sartorius. An engineer in polymer sciences, she leads global teams focused on materials science, testing, and scientific advocacy for single-use systems. She has driven initiatives in flexible materials, irradiation strategies, and sustainability, and is also an active contributor to BioPhorum and ECI single-use conferences.
Heidi Sinkovich is Director of Applications Engineering at Meissner Corporation. She leads global engineering teams supporting biopharmaceutical customers and has expertise in sterilization validation and ISO standards. Sinkovich also contributes to ASTM International and ASME BPE standards and has authored industry guidance on particulate control in single-use systems.
Aidan Sexton, PhD, is Senior Principal Scientist, Materials Sciences at Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine. With more than 30 years in the industry, he specializes in materials science, validation, and manufacturing support. Sexton has also contributed to multiple BioPhorum best practice guidelines on extractables and leachables and serves in advisory roles, including the ELSIE Board of Directors.
